With the new Enhanced Release at the Depot all of the older scenarios and campaigns that
have not yet been updated to "Enhanced" status are unplayable on that version the question
arises should we make a "Vanalla Mod" to give you backwards compatibility?? :duh:

What do you mean "MOD"?
I myself have a vanilla version and and 2 enhanced versions installed
the original ENH FR, and the new one

Have you tried swapping in a mod using mod swap?
It can only find 1 version of the game so IF you want
to run a mod you will have problems.

If you want to run multipule copys of the game thats
your call I would rather run modswap then burn
HD space with more then one install.

As for all the updates such as sounds, lbms and enc files
I dropped those in to my older copy of the game ten
minutes after I ripped them out of the Depot install.

Oh, I see what your saying
well I used to just have ENH Installed, and no 'vanilla" so I never really used modswap, unless I was swapping in the NA mod
but I have plenty of space so.....I keep a vanilla on here just to go back and reference if I need to
but if I wanted to play NA for instance then I would need modswap
so yes good idea sir
remember, I forgot all this stuff, and I trying to get back in the swing of things lol

A Vanilla mod is a great idea.
You would have the Enhanced improved sounds & graphics & ENCs with it, right?
Or is that not possible to do... just asking.

Well since the depot version is in effect an Enhanced install what a vanilla mod would have to do
is install the original oobs back into the game so all the stuff that is not converted to enhanced
could be played still. So the sounds and lbm's and enc files would only show up again if the
old oob unit calls them so odds are they will be a mess and need fixing.

That to me seems like a bit more then I care to do just to make the unconverted scenarios
playable again with the depot install version.

So

I am thinking since they snagged the FR oobs and are finally going to do something with
them to assist on making them the best they can be. We might as well wait until they
are completed and then make a PBM version that is a bit more historically correct and
might include: ( a lot of the stuff I did already in the PBM Campaign Mod I made)

Splitting out the transports from the formations to make them more C&C friendly

Raising the cost of trucks for most nations who should be using horses to move things

Making the MC into un armed wheeled Apc's Doing the same for Horses and bicycle units so they are ridden
and not just faster infantry with guns.

Assigning F0's as the HQ unit for all Artillery (this will alter the call times for most nations)

Adjusting the Arty to have higher stats allowing us to lower the pref setting to a more realistic number

Adding LC snipers and infiltration Snipers to the game

Correcting some of the Aircraft and load outs to a more historical level of ground support aircraft

Fixing the shipping and making adjustments to they can actually be used better.

Editing the Mech file exp and morale numbers to make PBM games play at the veteran troop level and not
the current Green troop level the current mech uses.

And dumping in the special oob's we have been adding stuff too.

And since this sort of mod would not need to be concerned with the scenarios and campaigns we would
not need to keep all the designer and what if units or the AI units and slots in the oobs so we can make
space in that way.
