I think I know where he got it from and it works just fine on all versions of the mech file that I have tried it with.

Oh yes it works OK, Ive also used various Mech.exe files when experimenting, but won't it give a error msg when playing pbem ?

Chief, mech edit was what we used to change the country ratings, and some spelling things, the name when the game opens etc etc...
I think sometimes if players use different mechs in pbem, you should get an error message, not for sure though.

Alby: Tanks for reply....What bothered me more was that it was posted on a site dedicated to Enhanced Mod, and cross contamination by those unaware could cause some problems in Enhanced. That's all. I will now retire to my easy chair, recline, put Lappy on and play SPwaw ver. ??????

Chief you know me better than that. ;)

A long time ago I gave Alby some files and one of them was TDR's mecheditv0.1. I recently found out that v0.4 was around. Just wanted it to be here in case something happens to the Depot.

It's a mech exe editor. That's why it is in the tools section.

While you are in your recliner, fix your name at Matrix. Drives me nuts not to see chief when you post.

HEY J2D......tried 5 ways to sunday to get it corrected, but it refused my entries, all the reps at Matrix helped but no cigars, so i went to my old call sign on one of my Connies. rgr on the mech.exe.

if your oppoent is not using the same mech.exe, than yes it should.

For Junk2drive: I was thinking (working without tools) why I could not get my old "Chief" ID back at Matrix. If you loose your ID and try to get it back, but in the meanwhile you've have changed your provider, when you sign back in, (as I did), the site no longer recognizes your IP, even if you give it the proper name and password, or Eric tries
to help. This is my wild guess, Eric tried for 3 days to get my ID back with all kind of tricks, by alas 'no joy in Mudville'.

It's a tool for hardcore designers used for modding the mech.exe.
With it you can change some of the hard-coded data, examples being:
- experience & morale values for each nation
- formation leader names
- nation flags & names
And more that I can't remember.

Actually all you can alter with it is the exp and moral of the nations

The names have to be altered by editing the mech file with a hex editor (in binary) and altering the flags in
the shp files or what ever they are one at a time.

Altering the exp and morale is really easy to do. and from my testing it I have found it works very nice at around
75 for exp and morale for pbm games. * You could go as high as 85 before things got out of hand. Remember in a
pbm game there is no upgrading of your stats between battles ( this was and still is basically a player vs AI game)
The enhanced mech file still assumes your playing against the AI and getting upgraded stats along the way.
