This is a mini Mod that I put out to show it is possible to make a bridge.
I know it will load just fine into the Depot 2016 release and I know it
will NOT go on top of another mod that is loaded such as FR or FR-NL or
any of the older Mods. If you really want it rename spm to zip and open it
up into a folder. then swap in the the 2 oobs (both spains) and the
icon0054.shp file (remember to make backups of the originals) It uses
the Spain oob's so any mod that updates them already won't let it load.

This is the mod and a small scenario showing it in action.

A SIMPLE Bridge Lesson

A Bridge would be nice to have if you want to cross a
river but the enemy always blows them up on you. Well
build your own!

Here is a very simple scenario showing the bridge gear.
Suggest you play with it a bit to understand what is going on.

Note THIS REQUIRES THE Bridge Mod V1.4 OR BETTER TO WORK

This is an unopposed crossing No one is shooting at you.

The river is cross able only by raft until the bridge goes in.
That means the Armor and hvy guns and mortars can't cross.

The infantry can cross in rafts so can Mg's and AT teams

So in order to build this bridge you first need to understand
how it is made.

The river is -3 depth so nothing that can't use a raft will be
able to cross. At the crossing site I have made reef hexes
creating a crossing. To block that crossing until the bridge
is completed I put dragons teeth to prevent vehicles from
using it.

To build the bridge you unload the bridge sections near the
bridge site. Use the Bridge engineers and have them go
over and pick up the bridge section. They then carry that
out in to the river and place it over the reef hexes. One to
a reef hex. The engineers will start clearing the dragons
teeth as they go. Once all the dragons teeth are removed
the bridge is complete and vehicles can begin to cross.
To make the bridge look better put the other two bridge
sections on the shallow water hexes so they extend out from
the shore to the reef hexes.

Since the reef is considered a water hex, trucks and wheeled
vehicles will be slow to cross it. Tracked vehicles will move
at speed across it.

For the 1st run I suggest you turn off the C&C option since
doing this with it on means you have to wait for orders at
times to move all the bridge units around and flag placement
can be critical to this.

Now once you understand how to do this stuff you can see
that doing it under fire will require you lay down a ton of
smoke to keep the enemy from shooting at the engineers
who will stop clearing teeth if suppressed. And you will
need to cross the infantry to hold a bridgehead on the other
side of the river.

Since I have not had a lot of chances to test this under fire
there are implications to doing it. Things like air strikes
and arty fire on the crossing site will slow it down a lot
and if you have it AA guns and counter battery fire on
the enemy Arty would be very useful. So if it is used in
a scenario I recommend that some serious testing be done
on it before it is released to insure that a crossing is really
possible. The bottom line is the engineers must clear the
crossing of dragons teeth. Everything else is eye candy
and for show only.

I am working on making a better bridge section the
current ones leave a bit to be desired. The bridges look
best east west or north south. They do not line up
properly on an angle.

The units are in the Misc area of the Spain OOBs A Motorised
unit and Horse Drawn units are available.

They are for Human Use Only. The AI will never be able
to make this look good but may be able to clear the reef
hexes of dragons teeth so it is possible to cross even
if they bridge sections are not there.

If you would like to test this under fire, I am available.
I would be happy to play either the bridging side or the opposition.

Cheers!

Well I have tested it somewhat by letting the AI shoot at me just to see what happens.

But I will have to create a nice map for this and we can have it. I'll send it to you
once I have it done.

I think we will find that is not much different then crossing using the barges and rafts
it is just that once you use the bridge the other side has the chance to use it to cross
also so you could find your still on the wrong side of the river.

FYI since you collect things. This is not the same stuff I posted in the Esienfaust area.
Different map and updated oobs (somewhat fixed the bridge icon)
